  1. European Researchers Night 2025, September 26, “Horia Demian” Sports hall plateau, Cluj-Napoca, Romania
  2. ReCoNnect, September 26, the Casino building in the Central Park, Cluj-Napoca, Romania

🌿 MerREM Exploratory Research Project at the European Researchers’ Night 🌍

Within the MerREM project, we investigate the mechanisms through which plants and rhizosphere-associated fungi can grow on soils contaminated with heavy metals, particularly mercury (Hg) ⚠️.

At the European Researchers’ Night (September 26, Cluj-Napoca), visitors became researchers for a day — they performed DNA extractions from fruits, chlorophyll extractions from leaves, and explored under the microscope the hidden world of plants and fungi.

🔎 Science becomes interactive and inspiring when we discover it together! 🌿

  1. Launch of InLab – Science for Community, at Faculty of Biology and Geology, Babeș-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca, Romania

– Dorina Podar – participated as invited speaker

🧬 We are happy to announce the launch of the first advanced molecular biology laboratory dedicated to early education, in which children from Cluj-Napoca and neighboring counties can discover science inside a real laboratory. The project, initiated by our association, brings research closer to the community and transforms biology into a practical and unique experience. The entire financing of the project was realized through the Start ONG program, launched by Kaufland Romania and implemented by the Act for Tomorrow Association. The project is called „InLab – Science for the community” and you can find it at the Faculty of Biology and Geology (@biogeoubb), they are our partners in this project, together with the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, from the Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca.

👩 🔬 InLab gives children the opportunity to work with real laboratory equipment, learn how DNA is extracted, what cell structures look like, or how molecular biology methods can be applied in simple experiments guided by specialists.
