Plant Genetics and Biotechnologies Group

Group Leader: Prof. Dr. Rakosy-Tican Elena

Specific areas of interest:

  • Somatic hybridization by electrofusion, new methods of cell fusion and implications for evolution;

  • Characterization of somatic hybrids for disease and pest resistance characteristics: late blight, Colorado potato beetle, viruses;

  • Phenotyping of somatic hybrids and characterization of tolerance to abiotic factors (dryness, salt) in vitro / ex vitro;

  • Cytogenetic (GISH, FISH) and molecular (SSR, resistance genes) characterization of potato somatic hybrids; §Use of plant extracts in cancer treatment.
