Dr. Attila Fülöp from University of Debrecen, Department of Evolutionary Zoology and Human Biology has been awarded a UBB Postdoctoral Advanced Fellowship in the Institute for Advanced Studies in Science and Technology.
The project will be carried out at the Centre for Systems Biology, Biodiversity and Bioresources (3B), where Dr. Attila Fülöp will be working together with Prof. Dr. Pap Péter László.
Many of the animal species live in social groups that are organized hierarchically, that is, some individuals are more dominant, while others are subordinate. At the same time, individuals have different personalities, and therefore, form groups with different personality composition. How composition of the groups affects dominant-subordinate relationships between individuals (i.e., the groups’ dominance structure) is still largely unknown, despite the ecological and evolutionary relevance of this question. During the period of his Postdoctoral Advanced Fellowship, Dr. Attila Fülöp will investigate the effect of groups personality composition on the structure of groups’ dominance hierarchy in house sparrows (Passer domesticus).
